What was the inspiration behind your final collection / project?
Stroboscopic movement
Describe the key features of your collection / project?
My collection is derived from my desire to push traditional craft, developing innovative stitch techniques and using technology to enrich and interpret imagery with laser-cutting and crochet. It consists of a collection of knitted, crocheted and mixed media fabrics for interiors.
The fabrics have a geometric quality taken from personal drawings and graphic designs with reference to stroboscopic images. I have also developed my own experimental hairpin lace technique for this collection.
Have you completed any work experience or industry collaborations?
I have worked on projects for Rowan, Daks and Umbro and have undertaken work experience at John Rocha, Cardigan and Larch Rose. I have had work on display at Liberty’s of London, as part of the Brighton festival and in Rowan knitting magazines.
What are your short or long-term career aspirations?
My career aspiration is to work in an interior/textile design team for a reputable company.
Do you have any words of wisdom that you could pass on to 1st or 2nd year students?
Try not to worry and don’t be afraid to take risks!
